A Mentally Ill Woman’s Diary - Visual Reconstruction

Role: Concept, Layout & Craft Design
Context: University Project - Book Redesign

Description:
This project reimagines Egy elmebeteg nő naplója (A Mentally Ill Woman’s Diary) by Csáth Géza as a tactile, two-part reading experience.
To emphasize the contrast between clinical observation and personal confession, I separated the text into two distinct objects: a medical folder for the doctor’s reports and a handmade leather-bound diary representing the patient’s voice.

The diary was printed with a realistic handwritten font and individually bound, creating a sense of intimacy and fragility.
Together, the two books invite readers to move between detachment and empathy — transforming the literary work into a physical, emotional, and sensory encounter.
